'HERETIC'

Rated R for some bloody violence.

What it’s about: Two young Mormon women end up at the home of a man they believe they can convert, and find a trap waiting for them.

The kid attractor factor: None for this philosophical horror flick.

Good lessons/bad lessons: You can do everything right and a man still might be determined to trap you. The only thing you can do it outwit him.

Violence: Some gory violence, deaths, stabbings, etc.

Language: None

Sex: Mention of sex and pornography.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Too scary for kids. OK for teens.

'BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER'

Rated PG for thematic material and brief underage smoking.

What it’s about: A small town learns the true meaning of Christmas thanks to a group of rabble-rousing siblings.

The kid attractor factor: The kid-friendly story and group of young actors, plus the holiday factor.

Good lessons/bad lessons: The most profound lessons can come from the most unexpected people. Never forget that Christmas is about kindness toward the unfortunate among us.

Violence: Some scraps among kids.

Language: None

Sex: None

Drugs: Kids briefly smoke a cigar.

Parents’ advisory: Fine for kids of most ages, might not appeal to the youngest ones.
