ELMONT, N.Y.— The Detroit Red Wings essentially pulled off a carbon copy of last week's victory over the New York Islanders.

The Wings scored two third-period goals Monday, this time from Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, and rallied for a 4-2 victory over the sagging Islanders.

Thursday, the Wings scored twice late in the third period to rally for a 2-1 victory.

Neither victory was an artistic beauty but the Wings (9-10-2) will take them, as in both games they looked to be headed for gut-wrenching losses.

Larkin wheeled in the slot and knocked in his team-leading 12th goal, at 11:20 of the third period, tying the game 2-2.

Raymond then scored his fifth goal, and third in three games, deflecting Simon Edvinsson's shot at 13:53, giving the Wings a 3-2 lead just 2 minutes, 33 seconds after Larkin's goal.

Michael Rasmussen added an empty-net goal with 2.4 seconds remaining.

Goaltender Alex Lyon preserved the victory with 29 saves, including a big save on Bo Horvat alone in the slot early in the third period and during an Islanders flurry with just over two minutes left in regulation time and the goalie pulled.

Kyle Palmieri's goal, his 10th, broke a 1-1 tie in the second period for the Islanders. Isaiah George's shot from the point was deflected by Brock Nelson in front, and Lyon let the rebound squirt to the side where Palmieri was alone and had an easy tap in at 7:42.

What was a scorching Wings' power play continued to slump. The Wings failed on three power-play opportunities, stretching their goalless streak to 10 over three games. But the Wings did kill all three Islanders power plays.

The Wings were without one key offensive weapon, as Patrick Kane (upper-body) was unavailable.

Moritz Seider and the Islanders' Anders Lee traded first-period goals.

Lee opened the scoring with his eighth goal. Lyon lost his stick and appeared to be in between reaching to grab it, and being square to the puck, and it cost him. Lee's shot from near the hashmarks cleanly beat Lyon at 4:35, giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead.

The Wings didn't register their first official shot on net until the 7:35 mark when Larkin drove to the net and tested goaltender Semyon Varlamov.

But on their second shot, Seider tied the game with his second goal. Andrew Copp found Seider alone and pinching from the point, and Seider ripped a one-timer past Varlamov at 13:25.
