North Carolina's trip to Dayton for NCAA Tournament First Four delayed by plane issues

DAYTON, Ohio — If North Carolina thought getting an invitation to Dayton was tough, getting there has proven just as difficult.
The Tar Heels missed their scheduled media availability to open the NCAA Tournament on Monday night after issues with their NCAA-provided charter flight. Originally scheduled to land in Dayton around 4 p.m. ET, the Avelo Airlines plane departed RDU International Airport at 5:12 p.m. and North Carolina arrived at 6:29 p.m.
North Carolina had been scheduled for press conferences at 5:50 p.m. and an open practice from 6:35 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.
“North Carolina’s press conference and practice will be delayed due to travel issues,” the NCAA said in a statement.
The Tar Heels, the last team into the NCAA field, play San Diego State in the First Four of the NCAA tournament. With a win, they would advance to face Mississippi in Milwaukee on Friday.
