HARTFORD, Conn. — The UConn women’s basketball program may not have won a national championship since 2016, and competition in the sport may be getting better around the country, but that doesn’t mean the Huskies aren’t still the class of the women’s game.

After the Connecticut Sun sent former UConn guard Moriah Jefferson to the Chicago Sky in a trade on Wednesday, every team in the WNBA now has a former Husky on its roster, as was pointed out by The UConn Blog’s Daniel Connolly on X.

It’s a remarkable stat, but not one that many Huskies fans will be very surprised by, given how dominant Geno Auriemma’s program has been over the past 30 years.

Here’s a look at the players currently on WNBA rosters, according to the league’s official site:

— Atlanta Dream: Tina Charles

— Chicago Sky: Moriah Jefferson

— Connecticut Sun: Olivia Nelson-Ododa

— Dallas Wings: Lou Lopez Senechal

— Indiana Fever: Katie Lou Samuelson

— Las Vegas Aces: Tiffany Hayes, Kiah Stokes

— Los Angeles Sparks: Crystal Dangerfield, Kia Nurse, Azura Stevens

— Minnesota Lynx: Napheesa Collier, Dorka Juhasz

— New York Liberty: Breanna Stewart

— Phoenix Mercury: Diana Taurasi

— Seattle Storm: Nika Muhl

— Washington Mystics: Stefanie Dolson, Aaliyah Edwards

In all, 17 former Huskies are balling in the WNBA, seven more than current national champ South Carolina, which has 10. Notre Dame (8), Baylor (7), Stanford (7) and Tennessee (6) are also among the schools with the most current WNBA players.

Taurasi, Stewart and Collier were also named to the U.S. women’s Olympic basketball team, giving the Huskies more alumna than any other school.
