DETROIT — The Tigers and lefty ace Tarik Skubal might not have been able to work out a multi-year extension this offseason, but the reigning American League Cy Young winner got a handsome pay raise nevertheless.

The two sides on Thursday agreed on a one-year deal for 2025 worth $10.15 million. Skubal, who was eligible for arbitration, earned $2.65 million last season.

The $10.15 million blew past the industry projection of MLB Trade Rumors ($8 million), but came in just under that of Spotrac ($11.2 million).

The 28-year-old Skubal broke out last season, winning the pitcher equivalent of the Triple Crown, leading the American League in wins (18), ERA (2.39) and strikeouts (228).

He also won two playoff games for the Tigers last October.

He is under team control through the 2026 season.

The Tigers also reached deals with their six other arbitration-eligible players Thursday:

— Right-handed pitcher Jason Foley, $3.15 million.

— Super-utility player Matt Viering, $3.005 million.

— Catcher Jake Rogers, $2.64 million.

— Right-handed pitcher Casey Mize, $2.34 million.

— Right-handed pitcher Will Vest, $1.4 million.

— Right-handed pitcher Beau Brieske, $1.025 million.

Additionally, the Tigers avoided arbitration with utility players Andy Ibanez ($1.4 million) and Zach McKinstry ($1.65 million) in November.
