Why does God put up with all the corruption of governments, nations, corporations, and with so many who defile everything God has made and blessed?
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham
Q: Why does God put up with all the corruption of governments, nations, corporations, and with so many who defile everything God has made and blessed? Since He is so powerful, He certainly can stop the disgrace like what happened at the Summer Olympics’ opening ceremony. Such corruptness was clearly against Him and what He stands for. I don’t know why He remains silent toward such behavior from the world. I certainly cannot. – P.O.
A: Have you ever asked yourself what you would do with the human race if you were in God’s place? How would you treat them in light of their rebellion and neglect and mockery?
We can’t really put ourselves in God’s place, of course; He is far greater. But if you were God, wouldn’t you be tempted to wipe out the human race and blot them from your memory? Why would you even try to do anything good for them, knowing they’d probably reject it?
But this isn’t God’s way – and the proof is Jesus Christ. Many have heard it said that God hates the sin – but loves the sinner. When Adam and Eve rebelled against God, He punished them by sending death on the human race. But He also refused to stamp them out and even promised an eventual way of salvation. That way is Jesus Christ, who loved us so much that He gave His life for us. Thank God today for His grace to mankind – grace that is greater than all our sin.
May we never doubt the depth of the love of Christ. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NKJV).
