Mercury Teases

Holiday Mathis on

The Mercury retrograde is a trickster's paradise. Many are game for a little mischief, pushing boundaries just enough to keep things interesting. Note that teasing is a form of love for those who share a certain perspective of themselves in the world. Of course, some egos are too fragile to see the humor in themselves. But for those who get it, the playful dance will deepen connections.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're working hard to keep everything moving, and you're allowed to have limits. If you feel you need to rest or focus on other things, that doesn't take away from how much you're doing overall. Honor the moments where you need space.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). People of vision and action will spark creativity and encourage you to step into your full potential. They offer perspectives that help you grow, and their own values, habits and goals can subtly inspire you to elevate your own.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Fairness is a construct. Balance may exist in the natural world, but fairness does not. People often enjoy arguing over what's fair as a preferred diversion from what's true because truth can be a much harder thing to face.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). The first idea may be the best one, but come up with more anyway -- if only for the exercise. Creativity strengthens with use, and the more ideas you entertain, the more freely they'll flow. Even the ideas you discard leave a mark, shaping the way for the ones that stick.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). As your own lifelong companion, some days you love it, and other days you wish you could trade with someone. But love isn't measured by constant admiration -- it's in patience, forgiveness and the choice to keep showing up for yourself, no matter what.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You're in a gambling mood, though not necessarily with money. Far more precious commodities are at stake -- for instance, your time, energy and trust. Every choice is a wager, every interaction a roll of the dice.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You can't get too much love. No matter how much love we receive or give, it seems to have the power to grow. It doesn't take away or deplete -- it enriches. Money is different. The impact of money can become murky when it's in excess.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Relationships, like the ocean, have a natural ebb and flow. There are times when things feel calm and other times when waves hit hard -- all part of the natural rhythm. You can't predict how each wave will feel until you experience it.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You're not bound by the past. You can be who you want to be and do what you want to do on your own terms. Among other things, this keeps life interesting! You're free to revise and refine the way you show up in the world based on what feels true for you now.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You work hard, carrying more than your weight, fully aware of how each person's impact creates a ripple through the entire team. Perhaps you're compensating for those who either don't notice their impact or don't care. Soon, you won't have to.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Life changes, and your inner landscape accommodates the shift. A drive to reinvent yourself is not a rejection of who you are or were. It's more about an evolving understanding of your new goals, roles and ways to play them.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). According to the Goldilocks principle, if you can tell what is too much, too little and just right for you, and you're a fairly light sleeper, you may be able to avoid unpleasant bear encounters. Today you find the "just right" level for everything.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (March 17). The world around you is moving fast, but you'll take it all at your own beautiful pace in this year of steady progress and quiet triumphs. More highlights: Creative pursuits give back to you in a number of ways, including financial. You'll have excellent mentorship, career growth, and you'll pick up useful skills. Also, unusual invitations and new and enhanced relationships. Aquarius and Capricorn adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 5, 25, 3 and 27.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Recently, Rob Lowe revealed that a sequel to the 1985 film "St. Elmo's Fire" is in early development, and many original cast members, including Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore, are interested in returning. The soulful Piscean actor and activist was born when Mars was in this artistic station as well. Mercury and Jupiter were in Aries, which might explain his perennial youth.
