'The View' reportedly plans to 'beg' Donald Trump to appear on the show

NEW YORK — ABC morning show “The View” wants President-elect Donald Trump to visit the program — despite its hosts having been very critical of him and vice versa.
Bookers plan to “beg” the 78-year-old politician to return to the “Hot Topics” table, a show insider told The Daily Beast.
The thinking behind inviting Trump on the program is that he’ll need to message a larger audience if he’s going to run the country.
“We have a huge audience, the biggest in daytime television, and we have a politically engaged audience that’s not reached by cable news,” the insider said.
The source made sure, however, to stomp out rumors that “The View” would add a full-time pro-MAGA host to its panel.
Former Trump administration adviser Alyssa Farah Griffin joined the show‘s lineup in 2022, though she’s been largely critical of her former boss. Last week, she revealed she voted for Kamala Harris in the presidential election, marking the first time in her life that she’d backed a Democratic nominee for POTUS.
Weeks earlier, Trump slammed the co-hosts of “The View” at a rally in Reading, Pennsylvania, calling them “really dumb people.”
They fired back at him a day later, with Sunny Hostin — a Notre Dame Law School alum and former federal prosecutor — telling Trump that he’s “always welcome to come” on the show “if sitting so close to a prosecutor won’t make you nervous.”
Trump appeared on “The View” 18 times before he was first elected president in 2016. Those visits were mostly cordial, including a 2011 interview in which Trump hinted he might someday run for the nation’s highest office with similar rhetoric to what was heard on the 2024 campaign trail.
“I think the country has never been in a position like it is right now,” he lamented. “We’re not going to be a great country for long if we keep going the way we’re going right now.”
Trump also used that visit to push the false narrative that former President Barack Obama might not have been born in the United States.
Host Whoopi Goldberg called that debunked claim “the biggest pile of dog mess I’ve heard in ages.”
Embattled New York Mayor Eric Adams, who’s currently being prosecuted by the Department of Justice on corruption charges, will be Friday’s guest on “The View.”
