2 students shot at Nashville high school, suspect also shoots himself: cops
Published in News & Features
A student attacker shot and wounded two students at Antioch High School in Nashville before turning the gun on himself Wednesday morning, police said.
The gunman’s immediate condition was unclear, but Metro Nashville Public Schools described him as “no longer a threat” in a social media post.
Neither the attacker nor the victims were immediately publicly identified, and the condition of the victims remained unclear. A police investigation was in its early stages Wednesday afternoon.
The school was locked down shortly after gunshots were heard, according to the district. Police said the shooting happened in the school cafeteria and was contained, according to local NBC affiliate WSMV.
Antioch High sits on the southeast side of Nashville, about 13 miles east of The Covenant School, where three students and three adults were killed in a March 2023 mass shooting.
A reunification site for students and parents was set up at a nearby hospital, the district said. It warned parents: “Please do not come to Antioch High School.”
