2 killed, 2 wounded in Thanksgiving morning shooting in San Antonio

Two people were killed and two more wounded in a shooting at a San Antonio, Texas, home on Thanksgiving morning.

The deceased victims were identified only as two men in their 20s, The San Antonio Express-News reported.

At least one of the wounded victims is also a man in his 20s, but no information was released on the fourth victim. Both were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

The suspected shooter, also in his 20s, was taken into custody Thursday morning, according to local CBS affiliate KENS.

Cops said all five people spent Wednesday night at the home ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, but they weren’t yet sure if any were related. The suspected shooter decided to leave Thursday morning, then returned with a handgun and began shooting just after 8.a.m., investigators said.

Any potential motive for the shooting remains unclear, according to police.

“This is a tragic incident, and we are working to piece together what led to this senseless act of violence,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a news conference.

He noted that local police respond to shootings on Thanksgiving “all too frequently,” but couldn’t comment on whether the latest incident was driven by tensions around the holiday.

The shooting on San Antonio’s east side was not the only instance of Thanksgiving gun violence in the south Texas city. On Wednesday evening, a man fatally shot a woman then turned the gun on himself in an attempted murder-suicide on the north side, police said.

The victim, identified only as a 47-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Express-News. The attacker, identified as a 53-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He was in critical condition when he arrived.
