My Pet World: A little training can help a dog reluctant to poop in his yard

Cathy M. Rosenthal, Tribune Content Agency on

While you cannot physically adjust her urination posture, you could try using a large, enclosed litter box. By providing a more spacious and enclosed environment, you could contain the urine stream better and minimize the spread of it outside the box.

If she prefers that open air feeling, try a tall-sided, open topped litter box where all four sides are protected. If you're concerned about her willingness to jump over and into a litter box, they do make these boxes with side entries, which would provide her easier access while still containing the urine effectively.

Let me know if one of these things works for her.
