An explosion was heard early Friday in Iran’s central city of Isfahan, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, citing local sources.

The cause of the blast is unknown, according to the report. An Iranian army air base and Isfahan’s airport are reportedly close to the explosion site, Fars said. Global oil and gold prices rose.

Isfahan was one of the several launch sites of Iran’s drones and missiles in its April 13 attack on Israel, Iranian media reported. Tehran has routinely accused Israel of attacks and sabotage activities targeting its nuclear and military sites in the past, including in Isfahan, home to some of its key nuclear enrichment and missile facilities.

Brent crude jumped above $90 a barrel and gold surged past $2,700 an ounce on the reports. U.S. bond yields fell across the curve, with the 10-year yield down 10 basis points at 4.53%

The reports come as Israel has vowed to retaliate after Iran launched a barrage of some 300 drones and missiles on the Jewish state last weekend. Iran said it was responding to a strike in Syria that killed several Iranian officers on April 1. Iran has been bracing for retaliation by Israel.
