In a game played between Toran and Heidenfeld at Beverwijk in 1953, Toran finished off the South African rather crisply. See if you are as sharp as White this Monday morning.


Solution:

There is a mating attack with 1.Bxh6+ Nxh6 2.Qg5+ Kf8 [2...Kh8 3.Qf6#; Black can give up his queen with 2...Qg6 3.fxg6 Bxe6 4.Qe7+ , but chess masters would just as soon be mated as be seen playing this lopsided contest out. ] 3.Qxh6+ Ke7 4.Qg5+ Kf8 5.Qf6+ Qf7 6.Qxf7#
