Your dog is the one who makes you happy and take out your stress but what if he is the one that causes you stress? Sometimes dogs have this irritable habit of chewing your furniture and you can't think of anything to keep him away from that. What really stressful is the stressful is what your dog is chewing is very expensive, how are you suppose to deal with that?

Don't be despair for there is always a solution for every problem. And yes, you can do something to keep them from chewing your expensive furniture permanently.

The technique is to teach your dog the soonest possible.

First you must understand the reason why your dog is chewing your furniture. When they are young and until the age of 1 1/2, they use to chew things because they are exploring with the use of their mouths the way humans like us use our hands. Chewing is a common behavior of a canine. Dogs do not have any sense of value that is why they don't know that your sofa is expensive.

Your puppy between the age of 14 to 28 weeks will be starting teething so he will be having a sore gums that's why they chew to take away the pain, that is why he chew the first thing can.

From a good shop for pets you can purchase rings for training and from my experience the frozen washcloth really works. Slightly dampen it and place it into the freezer. The sensation f coldness will feels great on his gums that are sore.

Instead of screaming at your dog when you caught him chewing a thing that he shouldn't have, offer him something he can chew. Give them rewards if they chew the thing you gave them, the dogs are easy to learn.

If you are going to leave and you have to leave your puppy in the house alone, see to it that the opportunities that he can chew is limited. Your puppy must go to through crate training to help you in helping him to fight against his problem in chewing. If you can't leave your dog in the crate put the things or hides the things that you do not want to be chewed.

But since you can't keep your furniture, it is advisable that you use a deterrent for chewing. Spray your furniture with a apple spray that is bitter so that your dog will be keep away from the things you have sprayed on.

In most of the cases, you need to train him to be obedient to keep your dog from chewing your furniture.
