The Golden Knights gave up three goals in the second period and lost their first game of the season Tuesday, falling to the Washington Capitals, 4-2, at Capital One Arena in Washington.
Center Jack Eichel and right wing Victor Olofsson scored, but goaltender Adin Hill allowed four goals for the second time in three starts. Washington had just 22 shots on goal.
The Capitals won behind former Knights goaltender Logan Thompson, who made 24 saves in his Washington debut. The Knights traded Thompson to the Capitals on June 29.
The Knights opened the season by sweeping a three-game homestand before starting a three-game road trip Tuesday. The Knights next play at Tampa Bay at 4 p.m. Thursday.
