Joe Starkey: How good, really, is the Steelers defense? We're about to find out.

Sports / Football /

PITTSBURGH — After three games, I thought this Steelers defense had a real chance to be Mike Tomlin's best since 2010.

After nine games, I feel less confident. If that sounds insulting, it shouldn't. It's just that the standard is pretty high around here.

The overall numbers are impressive, for sure, but less so over the past six games. And ...Read more

Sports / Football /

RENTON, Wash. — The defining image of the 49ers’ 36-24 win over the Seahawks at Lumen Field on Oct. 10 may be a 76-yard run by 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo that sealed the game in the fourth quarter.

The Seahawks had cut the lead to 29-24 and still had three time outs left — and a chance to get the ball back and win the game ...Read more
