SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm waived backup guard Kiana Williams on Tuesday.

The second-year veteran appeared in 12 games and scored 11 points this season.

The 25-year-old Williams was taken in the second round (No. 18 overall) in the 2021 WNBA draft by the Storm and played in 10 games with the team that season.

She made four appearances — three with the Storm and one with the Connecticut Sun — in 2022 and did not play in the WNBA last season.

In February, the Storm re-signed Williams to a one-year deal worth $64,145 and she’s competed with rookie guard Nika Mühl for minutes at the end of the rotation.

WNBA contracts become guaranteed this week for the remainder the season.

The Storm currently have 10 players and will need to sign a player before Friday’s game against the Chicago Sky in compliance with league rules that mandates teams have a minimum of 11 players on the roster.

Note

Jewell Loyd was named The Associated Press player of the week for the second time this season.
