Stephen Curry made his first public comment about longtime teammate Klay Thompson leaving Golden State after 13 years in the Bay Area.

Thompson, 34 reportedly agreed to sign a three-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

“Gonna miss you @klaythompson,” Curry wrote on an Instagram post on Tuesday morning. “Even though we won’t finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. Couldn’t have imagined a better run with you and @money23green (Draymond Green). Changed the whole Bay Area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do.

Before posting the comment on his Instagram story, Curry shared dozens of photos of himself, Thompson and Draymond Green throughout the years.

Curry and Thompson formed the greatest shooting backcourt in NBA history, helping propel the Warriors to four championships between 2015 and 2022. The two combined for 14 All-Star Game appearances, and both were perennially among league leaders in 3-point shooting statistics.

Thompson missed the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons because of knee and Achilles injuries, but came back to help the team win a fourth championship in 2022.
