DETROIT — It looks to be a welcome back for Tobias Harris.

The Detroit Pistons are bringing back the 31-year-old forward on a free-agent deal worth $52 million over two years, according to a report by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday.

The deal would add a veteran presence to the Pistons' starting lineup, coming off a miserable 14-68 record, the worst record in the NBA last season, including a 28-game losing streak. Harris previously was with the Pistons for parts of three seasons, from 2016-18, before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in the Blake Griffin deal.

Harris averaged 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds and shot 35% on 3-pointers for the Philadelphia 76ers last season and is coming off a five-year contract worth $180 million with Philadelphia, including $39.3 million last season. With the agreement, the Pistons use about half of their available cap space of $50-plus million.

It's been a busy few weeks for the Pistons, who restructured their front office, adding team president Trajan Langdon, along with Dennis Lindsey as the senior vice president of basketball operations. They also agreed to hire J.B. Bickerstaff as their new head coach and made a trade to acquire Tim Hardaway Jr. from the Dallas Mavericks, along with three second-round picks and drafted Ron Holland II with the No. 5 overall pick.
