Aroldis Chapman, who entered the contest three strikeouts shy of tying Billy Wagner for the most punchouts by a left-handed relief pitcher in MLB history, got two of them in the final frame.

Chapman is now one strikeout away from equaling Wagner, who finished his MLB career with 1,196 of them.

For the third time in as many games against the Reds, the Pirates racked up at least 10 hits as a team. Bryan Reynolds extended his career-long hitting streak with a single in the first inning, and the club followed the scorching-hot outfielder’s lead the rest of the way.

A couple innings after Suwinski plated the game’s first run with a two-out single, Rowdy Tellez walloped his third home run of the season to give the Pirates a lead they never gave up.

Tellez, who ended May with a .177 average and .463 OPS, has boosted both figures significantly with a banner month. In June, Tellez is hitting .362 with five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs.

Andrew McCutchen provided a pair of insurance runs with a two-run shot to center. Jason Delay, who doubled before McCutchen’s blast, smacked another two-bagger in the sixth to drive in two.

In the small sample of just six MLB games this season, Delay has three doubles and a .733 OPS.
