Ivanka Trump reveals why she won't return to the White House
Published in Political News
As her father prepares to take up the presidency for a second time next week, Ivanka Trump revealed that she “hates politics” and has no intention of returning to work at the White House.
The 43-year-old former presidential adviser shared the multiple reasons she decided to sit this term out while appearing on Tuesday’s episode of the “Him & Her” podcast.
After Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, Ivanka said she “did a recalibration across the board” on her approach to work, wellness and the home front.
“There were professional goals of course, but my primary goals were to just be the best frickin’ mom I could be,” she said, referring to the three kids she shares with husband Jared Kushner, Trump’s former senior adviser. “Every time I had to miss something, I was like, ‘I will never let this happen again, the minute I leave the White House.’ ... The main reason I’m not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price I’m not willing to make my kids bear.”
But the eldest Trump daughter revealed another motivation for steering clear of the current political minefield.
“I love policy and impact, I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,” she said. “There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really wanna welcome into mine. To some degree, I’m at the center of the storm, because my father is about to be president. But it’s a very dark, negative business.”
Ivanka first hinted at her divorce from D.C. in 2022, after her father announced his third run for the Oval Office.
“I love my father very much. (But) this time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics,” she said at the time.
