Donald Trump to hold Saginaw area rally in Michigan this week
Published in Political News
Republican former President Donald Trump will be back in Michigan for a campaign stop Thursday, a day before Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris returns to the state on Friday.
Trump's campaign announced Monday that Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, will hold a rally at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Ryder Center for Health and Physical Education at Saginaw Valley State University.
Doors for the event will open at 11 a.m. General admission access is available.
The rally in Saginaw County will mark Trump's 11th visit to Michigan of the 2024 election year. It will occur 33 days before the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Harris, the Democratic nominee, was last in Michigan on Sept. 19 for an appearance with TV host Oprah Winfrey in Farmington Hills. She will be in Flint on Friday, but her campaign hasn't said what she'll be doing there yet.
Trump is the only Republican presidential nominee since 1988 to carry Michigan. He won the state against Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016 by less than 1 percentage point, 47.5%-47.3%, or about 10,700 votes. But four years later, in 2020, Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden by 3 percentage points statewide, 48%-51%.
Biden narrowly won Saginaw County in 2020 against Trump, 49.4%-49.1%.
