Celebrity Travel: Go away with Isa Briones

Jae-Ha Kim, Tribune Content Agency on

Known for her work in “Star Trek: Picard” and the Disney+ series “Goosebumps,” actress Isa Briones was born in London, England, and currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York City. The latter show has offered her an opportunity to film outside of L.A.

“‘Goosebumps’ was the first time I shot something outside of L.A.,” she said. “We filmed in Vancouver for six months and I fell in love. I stayed downtown and adored being so close to the water, getting to walk along the seawall, finding my favorite coffee shops and feeling like a local. It was definitely cold as heck filming in Whistler, but the blankets of snow look gorgeous on camera.”

Fans may follow the actress’ Instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/isacamillebriones/ ) to get updates on her work and travels.

Q: Have you visited places for work that were so nice that you want to go back for a personal trip?

A: In 2019, I was doing a press junket [to preview] for “Star Trek: Picard” and attended Lucca Comics & Games [in Lucca, Italy]. However, we stayed in a town called Viareggio on the water. Fantastic food and beautiful hotels. I am a sucker for a sleepy Italian sea town, so I’d love to go back or explore other towns in that area.

Q: How do you separate work from vacation trips?

A: It’s obviously important to take time to unplug and relax and vacation is a great way to do that. However, that’s difficult to do as an actor. Often when you’re out of town, the self-tape audition requests still come in and you don’t want to miss important opportunities. What I try to do is be more intentional with what auditions I take while traveling – balancing the projects that truly speak to me with the need to take time for myself and making the most of a short vacation.

Q: If you've ever gone away for the holidays, which was the best trip?

A: I’ve spent a couple holiday seasons in London when my dad [the actor Jon Jon Briones] was doing “Miss Saigon” in the West End. Christmas in London is so magical. Walking the Christmas light covered streets at night is … chef’s kiss.

Q: Where would you like to go that you have never been to before?
