How to Litter Train Your Kitten in 3 Easy Steps

Someone was giving away kittens and you couldn't say no. So you've just added a new addition to the household and now they're happily marking their territory all over your house. Hopefully, if it's just a kitten, you can break your new pet of that habit pretty quickly. You just need to follow these three simple steps

Step One

Get a kitten friendly litter box, one that is low enough for them to get into easily. Fill it with litter; you may want to experiment with some of the scented litters to see if they take to it more quickly.

Step Two

Show the kitten where the litter box is located and make sure your kitten is close enough to get to it quickly. For instance don't have the kitten up-stairs and expect him/her to make it downstairs and down the hall to find it. Put them in the box a few times, you can even scratch their paw in the litter to get them used to it.

Step Three

Monitor their progress; reward them when they do well. If you're still having trouble, you may want to shut them in the room with the box and to get them use to it. If the kittens not getting better or just recently started acting up you may want to research their behavior further. Kittens and cats alike should take to a litter box with very little trouble.
