Auto review: 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is modern EV enjoyment
Published in Automotive News
As manufacturers are on the chase to keep up with the competition, Cadillac delivers the Lyriq to Grasso’s Garage as its first ever all-electric vehicle release to the market. Sized like the Chevrolet Blazer EV, the Lyriq delivers great space, comfort and modern styling, all of which comes with a price.
Our tester, the loaded up Sport 3, came with a base price just under $70K, making the five-seater EV SUV the top in terms of pricing in its category. As General Motors' upscale brand, Cadillac has had an uphill battle with overcoming customer objections about price and sportiness, as they do everything they can to steer the historic Pontiac and Oldsmobile consumers toward their Buick brand, while keeping the sportiness and luxury alive with Cadillac. As the EV push is on, Cadillac needed answers and quick, and the Lyriq was born.
Wrapped in Stellar Black Metallic, which really glimmered in the summer sun, the Lyriq showed out nicely and was paired with a black interior. The interior was upscale and sporty, while in typical fashion its infotainment system was easy to use. Seats were exceptionally comfortable, with a massaging feature standard. Added options included the $1,600 panoramic sunroof and $3,500 electric propulsion AWD, which included trailer prep for towing.
Riding on 22-inch midnight finished alloy wheels, our all black Cadillac was very futuristic looking, while it conveyed the luxury and exclusivity from the brand that consumers enjoy. Although the Lyriq is pricey for the market, the Cadillac did a good job in designing, manufacturing and rolling it out to consumers. With 307 miles available on a full charge, the Lyriq is really a great all EV option and good move for the brand.
