TORONTO (UPI) -- A Canadian YouTuber who specializes in unusual science experiments heated a sword to 1,000 degrees to chop through plastic bottles, lighters, firecrackers -- and a snowman.

James Hobson, aka The Hacksmith, posted a video to YouTube showing what happened when he took the viral red-hot knife trend to the next level by super heating a katana sword.

The video shows Hobson try several methods of heating the sword before using jumper cables to heat the weapon until it turns bright red.

Hobson uses the sword to cut through plastic bottles, cups, paper, and a cup full of popcorn, which pops from the heat.

The video also features slow-motion of using the hot sword to cut through firecrackers and finishes with Hobson using the sword to slice up a snowman, which is filled with a substance that bursts into flames from the heat.
