Mercury Lights the Spectrum of Survival

Holiday Mathis on

Mercury's entrance to Virgo recalls the truth of circumstances. For some, the journey is not about creating opportunities from abundance but about surviving and transcending overwhelming odds. Wherever you feel you are on the spectrum of surviving to thriving, it always helps to consider those on a different place in it, as there are challenges and gifts all around.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You are your own teacher lately. Life brings the lessons, but you bring your awareness to what's important. You also sense what's going to be on the test. No matter where you go, you continue your life training there.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). No one seems to manage things the way you would today, and it can be annoying at times to watch details fall through the cracks or take a direction unpreferred to you. On the other hand, different styles keep things interesting.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Wherever you go, you plan to leave it improved. The trouble is that definitions of "better" vary, and even when people agree, time has its way with those interpretations, too. You can't go wrong with a little levity today. Do what you can and let it go.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You're working hard, but it still feels like you're not making progress. Try narrowing your focus. This will help you see the result clearly, at least in one area, which will inspire and motivate you to continue the mission.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You've known someone for quite a while and you're still trying to understand them. You'll bring your boundless curiosity to listening, observing, testing and predicting. Learning a person is a form of loving them.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). In most cases, a lighter take on things will help the situation. You're able to access it by stepping outside your own interests, releasing an attachment to any particular outcome, or going for a broader view in general.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Complex problems require careful analysis, long-term planning or ethical considerations. You have just the necessary caution. Your strategic approach will provide a balance to some of the more impulsive members of your team.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The lost ask, "Where am I?" The explorer fixes the journey to a point of reference and continues on. To avoid further confusion, stop asking questions and start the observations and declarations -- the answers will be attracted to this attitude.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). With enough repetitions, you can create anything. The soft and constant rain can turn a mountain into sand. Of course, it does take a mega-annum. In the interest of time, go where the thing you need already exists.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). As your way of being evolves, there are still certain tenets that remain unchanged -- an essence so recognizable that you couldn't disguise it to those who really know you, even if you tried. Your distinctions will be appreciated today.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). There are those who wait until they have nothing left to say before they start listening, if indeed they ever get there. You take a different tactic. Even when you have much to say, you still choose to listen because you genuinely want to learn.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You're not interested in claiming glory for simply doing the right thing. Also, when the work is necessary, the credit seems irrelevant. What matters today is getting the job done. Accept whatever help you are offered.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 9). You'll participate in beautiful rituals that help you process your feelings, lend meaning to your experiences and bond your relationships. When there's no practice to deliver you to your vision, you'll create one. More highlights: You'll be prolific, turning in good work that matters to you and lifts the group. You'll receive exotic visitors and incorporate the influence. Taurus and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 5, 32, 19 and 47.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In his recent film "Spaceman," Adam Sandler plays an astronaut on a solo mission who discovers an ancient creature in the bowels of his spaceship. Adept in multiple genres, the auteur is also working on the long-awaited comedy "Happy Gilmore 2." Sandler has the sun, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Pluto all in diligent, perfectionistic Virgo. Sandler's career-oriented Mars is in Leo, the sign of entertainment.
