A Moon of You-Ness

Holiday Mathis on

Unconditional love is an appreciation of personhood "as is." The lunar trine to Mercury urges us to turn this ethic toward ourselves. Even as we work to develop ourselves in this way or that, acknowledge the one directing this work and the one doing it. Both parts of you are working together for the ultimate good of the entire being.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Blending in will lend a sense of security, but that's the only upside. If you instead go with the option of standing out, there's much more to win, including a space in the memory of the people around you.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You'll entertain, and not only that, you'll make it look easy. It's not. But the fact that you can create an aesthetically pleasing, accessible and meaningful gathering will be appreciated.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Even though you could point out the problems around you if you wanted to, optimism is the most empowering mode to operate from. This is what notebooks are for, and you'll make excellent use of one as you jot the problems and speak the compliments.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Even inanimate things will seem to move and respond to your enthusiasm. And your influence over others will be obvious. Ultimately it's about creating an atmosphere where people can connect.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). As works in progress, we are each responsible for doing the work. Or pausing the work. And today, the pausing is just as important as the doing, if only for the moment of reflection it provides.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Wanting is a gift. If you had no appetite, how would you know which way to move? Wanting is also a danger though, just as a motorcycle is a danger -- big motor, uncertain path.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The day sprawls like blank paper, waiting for new stories and the paradoxical qualities. As for that person you know who gets bored easily and needs constant excitement to keep the relationship interesting, it's a fun challenge.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). An organized kind of day in which you have a plan and you'll stick to it. More or less. You'll stick to it. Kind of. You won't. But having the plan is better than not having it, if only for the confidence that a person with a plan projects.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Listening is the skill that, like patience, doesn't get enough due notice. It takes years to master good listening and most people never do. You're good and will be around similar talents.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You think and share; it's all just a theory until you actually act. Think/share/do is what changes the world. You'll decide on the outer limits of a gamble and then jump in and work it out.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Lady Luck is famously fickle with her favors. Everyone wants the big win, though arguably, the kind of success that comes in the form of a lightning bolt can be a curse. Devote yourself to that which you can control.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). People yearn for recognition and appreciation. The perceptiveness to hook into the intriguing and distinctive qualities of others is remarkable and will make for truly special interactions.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (June 27). Brave moves are the norm for you this year, which is why your life expands in wonderful ways you didn't see coming. You'll have a sense that certain opportunities are for you. You won't always know what you're doing up front, but you'll say "yes" and learn as you go. More highlights: You'll be trusted with big projects. You'll master something few people ever do. Libra and Sagittarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 6, 34, 11 and 28.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Helen Keller showed the world that limitations are often mere illusions. The political activist and author was rendered deaf and blind by a disease that struck her as a toddler. With the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan, she forever changed the way the world would think of disability. This triumphant spirit was born when the sun and Venus was in nurturing Cancer and the Moon was in Pisces, the sign of old souls.
