White to Play and Mate in Three
Published in Chess Puzzles
It's New Year's Eve and what better problem than one that makes you think you're seeing double! A composition by one of problemdom's real geniuses, T.R. Dawson.
Solution:
1.Bc7 h3 [1...Kf1 2.Bh3+ Ke1 3.Bxa5#; 1...Kd2 2.Bxa5+ Kc1 3.Ba3#] 2.Bxa5+ Kf1 3.Bxh3# If you play out the solutions, the three given all make an "L" with the bishops. Coincidence?
