Jennifer Coolidge knew Ariana Grande was set for "a million great things" after her glowing performance in 'Wicked'.

The 'Legally Blonde' legend, 63, has congratulated the 31-year-old pop star on earning her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Glinda The Good Witch in the blockbuster adaptation of the Broadway classic and is over the moon for her friend.

She wrote on her Instagram Story: "When I was watching @wickedmovie for the first time, I knew a million great things were going to happen for @arianagrande because of her performance... and here's one of them.

Congratulations Ari - and a massive congrats to @cynthiaerivo and the rest of the Wicked family for the 10 nominations."

Jon M. Chu's 'Wicked' has landed 10 nods in total, including Best Picture in a Leading Role, with Ariana up for Best Supporting Actress and Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) in the running for Best Actress.

Ariana celebrated her Academy Awards nomination by sharing childhood photos of herself dressed as Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz' on Instagram.

Alongside the snap, she wrote on Instagram: "Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition.

"I cannot stop crying, to no one's surprise.

"I'm humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny Ari [her younger self] who sat and studied Judy Garland singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. I'm so proud of you, tiny.

"Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement @theacademy."

She also described herself as "humbled and deeply honoured" to be nominated alongside other "brilliant" actors - and gave special thanks to her director Chu.

The pop star wrote: "You are the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and most fierce friend. I am so deeply proud of my beautiful 'Wicked' family."

She also congratulated her 'Wicked' co-star Cynthia, adding: "I am so proud of my Elphie, my sister, my dear @cynthiaerivo.

"Your brilliance is never ending, and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. I love you unconditionally, always."

She concluded her message by adding: "I don't quite have all my words yet, I'm still trying to breathe. But thank you. Oh my goodness, thank you.

"Universal, Marc, my family, my heart.

"Lemons and melons and pears, oh my."

Meanwhile, Jennifer previously thanked Ariana for her career renaissance after she starred in her music video for 'Thank U, Next' in 2018.

Speaking to the singer for Entertainment Weekly's 2022 Entertainers of the Year cover story, the 'White Lotus' star said: "I mean, from there I got [the film] 'Promising Young Woman,' and this whole thing.

"You were sort of the instigator. I really believe that. I think if you hadn't put me in 'Thank U, Next,' and done that imitation, I don't think I would be here where I am."
