'BRAVE THE DARK'

Rated PG-13 for domestic violence/bloody images, suicide, some strong language, teen drinking, drug material and smoking.

What it’s about: Based on the true story of a troubled teen and the drama teacher who took him in.

The kid attractor factor: While it may have some appeal for teens, this is more of a dark adult drama.

Good lessons/bad lessons: There is goodness in people if you allow yourself to have faith in them.

Violence: Some extreme bloody violence against women — shooting, abuse, murder.

Language: Some strong language.

Sex: Teen kissing.

Drugs: Teen drinking, smoking, drug use.

Parents’ advisory: A bit too mature for kids. Fine for teens.

Violence: Some perilous situations — chases, a blow to the face.

Language: Swearing throughout.

'PRESENCE'

Rated R for violence, drug material, language, sexuality and teen drinking.

The kid attractor factor: Not much — this is more of an adult horror/drama, though teens might be drawn to it.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Someone is trying to tell you something — listen.

Violence: Some violence/peril against a teen girl and some other sudden violence/fighting.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: Teen sex scenes (no graphic nudity).

Drugs: Teen drinking and drug use, reference to drug overdoses.

Parents’ advisory: Too mature for kids, OK for teens.
