Chappell Roan's 'Pink Pony Club' "changed everything" for the pop star.

The 26-year-old singer released the hit single in 2020, and she admits that it's changed the course of her life.

She told the BBC: "That song changed everything. It put me in a new category.

"I never thought I could actually be a 'pop star girl' and 'Pink Pony' forced me into that."

Despite this, Chappell's record label failed to see the song's potential and she was eventually dropped amid cost-cutting measures.

The singer subsequently returned to serving coffee in a donut shop - but Chappell doesn't look back on that period with any regrets.

The pop star - who saw a surge in the song's popularity following the release of her debut album, 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess', in 2023 - said: "It absolutely had a positive impact on me.

"You have the knowledge of what it's like to clean a public restroom. That's very important."

Chappell has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years - but the singer previously admitted that fame can feel "abusive".

She told The Face magazine: "I feel like fame is just abusive.

"The vibe of this - stalking, talking s*** online, [people who] won't leave you alone, yelling at you in public - is the vibe of an abusive ex-husband. That's what it feels like.

"I didn't know it would feel this bad."

On the other hand, Chappell still loves getting positive feedback from her fans.

The 'Femininomenon' hitmaker said: "I can't read my DMs anymore, because I cry so much.

"But when people are like, 'Whatever you're doing, it helped me' - I don't think any award or any money or whatever can be exchanged for that compliment. I don't care about anything else, except giving space to people to be free. Because that's what I needed so bad: freedom."
