AC/DC announces first North American tour in 9 years

DETROIT — Hard rock legends AC/DC will "Power Up" on at 13-date North American tour this spring, promoters announced Monday.
Tickets for the show, including an April 30 stop at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions' home, go on sale at noon on Friday via Ticketmaster.
The show is part of AC/DC's "Power Up" tour, named for the band's 2020 album, its 17th studio set. The tour kicks off April 10 in Minneapolis and wraps May 28 in Cleveland.
The tour marks the Aussie hard rockers' first North American outing since 2016. That round of touring featured Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose filling in on vocal duties, after lead singer Brian Johnson was ordered by doctors to immediately stop touring or risk losing his hearing.
Guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young, older brother of lead guitarist Angus Young, died in 2017 after leaving the band in 2014. He was replaced by Stevie Young, Malcom's nephew.
AC/DC didn't return to live performing until playing Indio, California's Power Trip in 2023. The band — Johnson and the two Youngs, along with drummer Matt Laug and bass player Chris Chaney, who joined in 2023 and 2024, respectively — followed that one-off with a European tour this year.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, AC/DC celebrates the 50th anniversary of its debut album, "High Voltage," in 2025. The band has four singles — "Highway to Hell," "Back in Black," "Thunderstruck" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" — with more than 1 billion streams each on Spotify.
The Ford Field show is the venue's third concert to be announced for 2025, following announcements of Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks on March 29 and Post Malone and Jelly Roll on May 18.
