MIAMI — For all of you “Bad Monkey” fans, your favorite whodunit may not just be one and done.

The Apple TV+ dark comedy starring Vince Vaughn based on the Carl Hiaasen novel, was the sleeper hit of the summer. And with any luck, we could see a Season 2.

The gory finale saw the death of a few main players (nope, we don’t do spoiler alerts), but safe to say, Vaughn’s character Yancy, a disgraced cop turned Florida Keys health inspector investigating a mysterious severed arm, survives.

The second season will have material to draw from given the fact that Hiaasen wrote a follow-up called “Razor Girl.”

Yancy’s adventures in the 2016 book involve him helping the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department search for a missing reality star.

“It’s such a good Easter egg,” “Bad Monkey” creator Bill Lawrence told Deadline of his desire to turn the zany bestseller into a show. “I’m super hopeful that we will start working on it very soon.”

Lawrence (of “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town” and “Ted Lasso” fame) adds that another central figure would be offered a role in the next go-around. That would be medical examiner Rosa, played by Kendall native Natalie Martinez, who also happens to be Yancy’s main squeeze.

“Whether she’s a regular or just in a bunch of episodes, she is in the book, she shows up in the middle and becomes a player,” the Hollywood vet revealed. “I never answer any of this stuff, not because of not wanting to, but because the writers room hasn’t started yet, and so I can’t tell you if Rosa is going to be a regular or if she’s just going to come back through the world.”

Lawrence has a more personal reason for bringing this potential project to life: Hiaasen is one of his biggest idols.

“The dude is really good,” he said of the the former Miami Herald reporter and columnist. “He’s a classic American satirist and also a good guy.”
