New on DVD: Celebrate courage of 'The Boy in the Woods'

A remarkable tale of survival tops the DVD releases for the week of Oct. 15.

"The Boy in the Woods": Based on the true story of Maxwell Smart, this historical drama centers on a boy who escapes into the forests of Poland after the Nazis kill his entire family during World War II.

“It is very important for me. I am anxious to see the reaction of the movie,” Smart said in an interview with the Miami Herald. “I never, never in my entire life dreamt that my memoir would ever be produced as a film.”

"9 Windows": Wheelchair-bound following a car accident that claimed her parents, a young woman thinks she witnesses a real webcam murder in this thriller.

"Kill 'Em All 2": Jean-Claude Van Damme returns in this sequel as a man with a certain set of skills who finds himself in the crosshairs of an aggrieved brother out for vengeance.

"Model House": A group of swimsuit models staying at a remote site for a shoot get more than they bargained for in this slasher horror flick.

 

"Demon Pond": Enjoying a Criterion Collection release with new 4K digital restoration is this 1979 folk horror flick from Japanese New Wave filmmaker Masahiro Shinoda.

"Pandora’s Box": German director G. W. Pabst's 1929 classic about a showgirl's rise and fall also joins the Criterion ranks, boasting a new 2K digital restoration.

OUT ON DIGITAL HD OCT. 15

"Alien: Romulus": This seventh "Alien" movie, taking place after the events of Ridley Scott's 1979 film, follows a crew of youths who come upon the xenomorphs while scavenging for equipment on the ship.

"Reagan": Dennis Quaid stars in this biopic that explores the 40th president's life from his early years to Hollywood acting and time in the White House.
