DETROIT — HBO has picked up a new comedy series from Tim Robinson, Deadline reports.

The show, "The Chair Company," stars the Metro Detroit native as a man who finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy following an embarrassing incident at work. The series comes from Robinson and Zach Kanin, the co-creators of "Detroiters" and the hit sketch comedy series "I Think You Should Leave."

"The Chair Company" co-stars Lake Bell and Sophia Lillis and is executive produced by Adam McKay, the former "Saturday Night Live" writer turned filmmaker, whose movies include "Step Brothers," "The Big Short" and "Don't Look Up."

There is no word yet on when "The Chair Company" will debut on the cable network.

Robinson, 43, grew up in Clarkston and joined the cast of "SNL" in 2012, where after a season as a featured performer he spent several years as a writer.

"Detroiters," which also starred Detroit native Sam Richardson, lasted two seasons on Comedy Central, and "I Think You Should Leave" has aired three seasons on Netflix.

Robinson, a three-time Emmy winner, also stars in "Friendship," which premiered this month at the Toronto International Film Festival. The comedy, which co-stars Paul Rudd and Kate Mara, received warm reviews from festivalgoers and is seeking distribution.
