DETROIT — Eminem is headed to the VMAs.

The Detroit rapper will open Wednesday's MTV Video Music Awards, the network announced Monday. He's due to perform as part of a lineup that includes Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Shawn Mendes, GloRilla, Karol G, Camila Cabello and Lenny Kravitz.

Megan Thee Stallion, whom Eminem mentions in his single "Houdini," is set to host the show.

LL Cool J is also listed as a performer on the show, which clears the path for he and Eminem to potentially perform their new single "Murdergram Deux" from LL's latest album, "The Force."

Eminem, whose "The Death of Slim Shady" album was released in July, made his last appearance on the awards telecast in 2022, when he performed "From the D 2 The LBC" opposite Snoop Dogg. He also performed at the show in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2010.

Eminem is up for eight awards at the show, including Artist of the Year, and his clip for "Houdini" is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, Song of Summer, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing and Best Direction. Eminem is also nominated for the VMAs Most Iconic Performance award for his appearance on the show in 2000, when he performed "The Real Slim Shady" and "The Way I Am" alongside an army of Eminem lookalikes.

Em is a 13-time VMA winner, a record for a hip-hop artist, and he's tied with Peter Gabriel as the show's second most decorated male artist. Among all artists, only Beyoncé (27), Taylor Swift (23), Madonna (20) and Lady Gaga (18) have more wins.

Eminem is a two-time winner for Video of the Year, for "The Real Slim Shady" (2000) and "Without Me" (2002), and he's been nominated in the category a record eight times. D12's "My Band" was also up for Video of the Year in 2004.

Taylor Swift leads all nominees at this year's show with 12 nominations, followed by Post Malone with 11. Presenters on the docket include Big Sean, Flavor Flav, Miranda Lambert, Paris Hilton, Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, Lil Nas X, Carson Daly and Addison Rae.

MTV's Video Music Awards air at 8 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday on MTV, as well as on BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, Nick at Nite, Paramount Network, VH1 and more.
