DETROIT — Green Day abruptly ran off stage during its concert Wednesday night at Comerica Park and was absent for about 10 minutes before returning to the stage.

About 20 minutes into the concert, during the second chorus of the band's hit single "Longview," the band members dropped their instruments and were quickly rushed from the stage. After a few minutes of silence, a message popped up on the video screens reading, "Show Pause. Please standby for details."

When asked, venue officials did not provide any explanation for the pause. Sources confirmed to Billboard it was due to a drone flying within site of the stage.

About 10 minutes later the band returned to the stage. "How you guys doing? Everybody OK?" lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said to the roughly 35,000 fans. He then asked fans to put away their phones and be in the moment, and picked up in the exact spot in the song where the band left off.

After the next song, "Welcome to Paradise," Armstrong again addressed the crowd. "There ain't no motherf----- that's gonna stop us, I'll tell you that," he said.

Green Day's Wednesday concert was in celebration of both the 30th anniversary of the band's 1994 breakthrough album "Dookie" and the 20th anniversary of its 2004 triumph "American Idiot."

Later in the evening, Armstrong told fans, "Tonight we've all had a very unique experience together," before rolling into "Dookie's" closing song, "F.O.D."
