NEW YORK — Vice President Kamala Harris officially entering the presidential race on Sunday hasn’t only shaken up the political landscape, it has also prompted fast-moving changes to an upcoming off-Broadway musical.

Producers of “Ghost of John McCain,” scheduled to open at the Soho Playhouse on Sept. 24, announced on Tuesday a last-minute script change to add Harris to the production.

“Live theater, like politics, moves fast, and we want to make sure our show is every bit as wild as this year’s election cycle,” political strategist Jason Rose, businesswoman Lynn Londen and longtime McCain campaign consultant Max Fose said in a statement.

The politically charged musical, directed by Catie Davis, follows the late Vietnam War veteran, Arizona governor, senator and 2008 presidential candidate in the afterlife. Once there, McCain surprisingly discovers that “heaven” exists inside former President Donald Trump’s brain.

A “Greek Chorus” made up of late influential figures such as Roy Cohn, Teddy Roosevelt and Eva Perón are juxtaposed alongside the likes of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Taylor Swift, Clint Eastwood and Kanye West.

And now enters Harris, who is perched at the top of the Democratic ticket for the 2024 battle against Trump to become the 47th commander-in-chief.

The musical isn’t meant to be “a hit piece,” the production team noted, but described it as “a comedic exploration of the very different world views of two very different standard bearers of American politics.”

“We’re looking forward to adding Vice President Harris’ worldview to that mix,” they said.

Casting details are to be announced at a later date.
