Man slashed in neck inside Manhattan subway station, suspect nabbed
Published in News & Features
A man was slashed in the neck during an argument with a fellow straphanger inside a Midtown Manhattan subway station early Monday, police said.
The two men got into a quarrel that escalated into the slashing on the uptown C train platform at the W. 50th St. stop about 1:30 a.m., cops said.
Medics took the 48-year-old victim, bleeding from the neck, to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The attacker, a man in his early 20s, got on the C train after the attack but was nabbed by police one stop later, at the 59th St-Columbus Circle station.
He was taken to Bellevue to be treated for a cut on his hand. He appears to have inadvertently cut himself during the assault, police said.
A screwdriver and a knife were found on the suspect, police said. Charges against him were pending.
It wasn’t immediately clear to cops if the two men know each other or are strangers.
