Impero Foods & Meats, Inc., a Baltimore-based food processing company, is recalling 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage products.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a statement Friday that the pork sausage was produced by the company between Oct. 3 and Dec. 19.

FSIS said that the company’s pork was processed without proper inspection. No reports of illness from consuming the meat have been reported.

“We followed FSIS recommendations and voluntarily recalled any products out in commerce,” Jerry Vitale, vice president and owner of Impero Foods & Meats, Inc., said when reached for comment Monday afternoon.

The USDA is asking restaurants and retailers to throw out any of the pork they have stored in their refrigerators or freezers.

The products recalled are the following, and include these labels.

•10-lb white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “rope” handwritten on the case.

•10-lb. white cardboard box cases containing a plastic bag of “Old World Italian Sausage” with “link” handwritten on the case.

The products also have the number “EST. 10827” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were shipped to restaurants and retailers in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

“FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers,” the news release states.
