'Senseless': Postal worker shoots and kills co-worker at facility in Texas, police say

A United States Postal Service employee was killed when a co-worker opened fire at a Texas facility, police told news outlets.
Employees ran for cover when shots rang out around 10 p.m. Monday at the Missouri City processing center, authorities told KPRC. The victim died at the scene, police told KTRK.
Officials identified the shooting victim as 35-year-old Kevin J. Hines, KTRK reported.
The accused shooter, 24-year-old Derrick Lott, is being held in the Fort Bend County Jail on a murder charge, according to jail records.
The regional processing facility was evacuated and was closed for the investigation, according to KPRC.
The motive for the shooting is not known, KHOU reported.
“This was a tragic and senseless act of violence,” U.S. Postal Inspection Service acting inspector in charge Mona Hernandez said, according to KHOU.
McClatchy News reached out to USPS but did not immediately receive a response.
Missouri City is about a 20-mile drive southwest from Houston.
