Disregard Michael Wolff's 'nonsense' new book, Trump team warns
Published in News & Features
Do not read Michael Wolff’s new book, a long list of Trump campaign surrogates declared on Wednesday.
The book — an as-yet unreleased and untitled new work by the author of “Fire and Fury” — will be filled with falsehoods and is best ignored, according to Trump’s staff, just like they apparently ignored Wolff’s attempt to interview them ahead of its release.
“A number of us have received inquiries from the disgraced author Michael Wolff, whose previous work can only be described as fiction. He is a known peddler of fake news who routinely concocts situations, conversations, and conclusions that never happened. As a group, we have decided not to respond to his bad faith inquiries,” the Trump team wrote in response to Wolff’s apparent inquiries.
The declaration was signed by incoming White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, as well as Trump-Vance campaign manager Chris LaCivita, Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio, and spokesperson Steven Cheung.
It’s signed as well by Trump senior advisers Danielle Alvarez, Brian Hughes, and Jason Miller, incoming deputy chief of staff for legislative and public affairs James Blair, incoming deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel Taylor Budowich, deputy campaign manager Justin Caporale, speechwriter Vince Haley, spokesperson Tim Murtaugh, data analyst Tim Saler, Donald Trump Jr. spokesman Andrew Surabian and pollster Travis Tunis.
The lot of them, if their declaration is to be taken as any hint, apparently learned a lesson from Wolff’s 2018 bestseller, which detailed the apparently chaotic nature of the first Trump Administration.
The book, though widely sold, was noted for factual inaccuracies and poor editing. The next book won’t be any better, according to Trump’s staff, who seem like they are already done with Wolff.
“We encourage others to completely disregard whatever nonsense he eventually publishes. Consider this our blanket response to whatever he writes,” they wrote.
Wolff could not be reached for comment.
