Bon Jovi, Walz to headline Democrats' election eve rally in Detroit
Published in News & Features
Rock music legend Jon Bon Jovi will perform at a campaign rally Monday night in Detroit in support of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
Walz, the governor of Minnesota, will attend the event and deliver remarks encouraging Michiganians to get out and vote in Tuesday's presidential election.
The election eve event will also feature performances by the Detroit Youth Choir and Grammy-nominated country duo The War and The Treaty, who rose to stardom from Albion in rural south-central Michigan. The location and start time for the Walz rally have not yet been announced.
As Harris tries to motivate and excite voters in the final days before Election Day, her campaign has announced rallies in several swing states featuring performances from some of the biggest names in music.
Lady Gaga is expected to join Vice President Harris at a Philadelphia rally on Monday, as will the Roots, Ricky Martin, Fat Joe and others, according to Variety. Katy Perry will headline a rally in Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported.
Bon Jovi, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, has supported a number of Democratic candidates over the past two decades in his home state of New Jersey and across the country.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, just as he did in 2016 and 2020, will hold his final campaign rally before Election Day on Monday night in Grand Rapids. His running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, will campaign in Flint earlier in the day.
Michigan — with its 15 winner-take-all electoral votes — is widely considered a pivotal battleground for the election, and public polls show no clear favorite to win the state.
Election Day voting in Michigan begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
