Legendary actor John Ashton has died.

Ashton, who was best known for his roles in the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise, was 76 years old at the time of his death.

His longtime manager, Alan Somers, confirmed Ashton’s death in a statement, according to CBS News.

“John was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him, Somers said.” Ashton died on Sept. 26 in Fort Collins, Colorado, after a cancer diagnosis.

“John leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, children, grandchildren, as well as his brother, sisters, his extended family and all who loved him,” Somers said, according to CBS News. “John’s impact on the world will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.”

According to Variety, Aston and his wife, Robin Hoye, had been married for 24 years.

He is also survived by his children and step-children and a grandson, Variety reported.

Ashton became a staple in Hollywood, acting for more than five decades.

As IMDb reports, Ashton acted in more than 200 stage, film and television productions. He made his big screen debut in “The Psychopath” in 1973.

His last acting credit was a return to his most beloved role, when he made an appearance in the 2024 movie, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
