The Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce is getting a pay increase.

Kelce has agreed to a two-year pact that will make him the highest-paid tight end in football, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Later Monday afternoon, the Chiefs said they signed Kelce to a new contract.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kelce’s refreshed two-year deal was worth $34.25 million, with $17 million fully guaranteed in 2024 and most of 2025’s salary assured as well.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes almost immediately responded to the Kelce news on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“I told yall I’ll never let him leave!!” Mahomes wrote. “Congrats my guy!”

Kelce, 35, had a $12 million base salary in 2023 combined with just over $3 million in bonuses, according to OverTheCap.

Before Monday’s news, Kelce ranked fourth among NFL tight ends in average yearly salary.

“I can’t wait to get after it these next two years,” Kelce said in a video posted on the Chiefs’ social media. “ ... Getting fired up for this year.”

Last season, Kelce had 93 catches for 984 yards with five touchdowns. That was before a productive postseason: He had 32 receptions for 355 yards with four TDs in four playoff games.

In a Zoom call with reporters Monday, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach started by congratulating Kelce on his contract adjustment while saying it was a “special day and moment” for the Chiefs.

“It’s hard to put into words what Travis means to this organization, this city,” Veach said. “It certainly was a priority to adjust his contract for us. It was something that was important for Clark (Hunt, Chiefs owner). Very fitting that Travis is now the highest-paid tight end in these two years.”
