ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The way the Rays rallied in the ninth inning Tuesday, scoring two runs with two outs on just their second, third and fourth hits of the night, it seemed like the game was headed for a wild finish.

And it was, a 7-6 win in 13 innings.

After rallying to tie again in the 10th and 11th innings, the Rays came from behind again and won it in the 13th.

Richie Palacios doubled off Carson Fulmer with two outs to score the tying run, and after the Angels intentionally walked Isaac Paredes and unintentionally put on Harold Ramirez to load the bases, Amed Rosario delivered the game-winner with an infield single.

The win improved the Rays to 10-8 and kept them from what would have been another frustrating loss.

Each team got a run in the 10th.

The Angels played for the one run in the top half, with Logan O’Hoppe bunting Aaron Hicks, the runner placed at second under the extra-inning rules, over to third. With Luis Rengifo at the plate, the Angels got the run on a wild pitch by closer Pete Fairbanks.

Down 4-3, the Rays tried a similar strategy as Rene Pinto bunted Jose Siri to third. When Yandy Diaz tapped a ball back to the mound, Siri looked to be caught between third and home. But Angels reliever Jose Cisnero looked at him and then went for the out at first, throwing wildly past the base. That allowed Siri to make it 4-4.

In the 11th, Jason Adam loaded the bases by hitting Zach Neto and walking Anthony Rendon. He retired Mike Trout on a soft liner, but then allowed a deep fly ball by Taylor Ward. Siri made a leaping catch at the wall, keeping the Angels to just the one run.

The Rays got even again.

Paredes battled through a 13-pitch at-bat off Jose Cisnero for a single, moving Palacios, the runner placed at second, to third. Ramirez hit a grounder to short that scored Palacios.

Phil Maton, who made a mess on Monday, got the Rays through the top of the 12th unscored on.

The Angels took the lead again in the top of the 13th when Neto singled in Rengifo.

The Rays had been held to one hit going into the ninth when they rallied from a 3-1 deficit. Ramirez singled, then Rosario did the same off Carlos Estevez. Jose Caballero delivered the biggest hit, lacing a ball down the right-field line for a two-run triple that sent the game to extras.

Until then, it looked to be a story of two costly mistakes by Rays starter Aaron Civale and the lack of support he got from his mates.

Facing the Angels for a second straight start, Civale pitched well overall for six innings but allowed back-to-back homers in the third to Mickey Moniak and O’Hoppe.

The Rays, having issues facing hard-throwing Jose Soriano for a second straight start, got one back in their third. First they got a leadoff walk by Randy Arozarena, then their first hit, a single by Palacios. Arozarena went to third on a flyout and scored on an infield out by Ramirez, who once again found a way to put the ball in play.

Soriano, who is converting to a starter and has faced the Rays twice, averaged 99.4 mph on his fastball, throwing 11 at 100 or high, and 16 more at 99.
