MIAMI (UPI) -- Fire crews in Miami discovered an adorable surprise when they found a group of puppies in a local cemetery.

The three frightened puppies were found in healthy condition under a concrete box in a Northwest Miami-Dade cemetery, according to WSVN.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were informed of a faint sound coming from beneath the coffins and removed a concrete slab to unveil one trapped puppy, NBC Miami reported.

They later discovered the two other puppies, as they dug a small trench and managed to pull the puppies out.

It's unclear how the puppies became trapped, but they were taken to the Redland Rockpit Abandoned Dogs Project who hope to reunite them with their mother.
