HARNPAYNE, Ontario (UPI) -- A man driving through northern Ontario had a lucky near-miss with three moose in the road and the white-knuckle encounter was captured by his dashboard camera.

James Levesque said he was driving Jan. 3 on Highway 631, near the northern Ontario town of Harnpayne, when he noticed the group of moose in the road ahead of him.

The video shows Levesque apply the brakes, but the snowy road proves too slippery for an emergency stop.

The moose start to run down the road and the car narrowly passes between two of the running animals.

Moose are famous for their failure to obey traffic laws -- a moose shocked a car full of passengers near the Montana-Idaho border earlier this month when it sprinted next to their vehicle on a stretch of mountain highway.
