PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (UPI) -- A group of fisherman in Florida were sent into a frenzy after witnessing a large shark jumping out of the water.

Talyor Danowski and his friends captured video of the shark, which they believed to be a Mako, as it swam under their boat and leapt through the air as they attempted to catch it off the coast of Indian Rocks Beach in Pinellas Count on Sunday, according to WTSP.

"We didn't have any shark rigs so we just hooked it on one of our hooks for our grouper earlier," said Danowski.

The shark struggled to escape the fishermen's hooks and eventually sprung several feet out of the water.

The shark leapt out of the water multiple times as the men began shouting with excitement.

"I think the reason was that it was so intense for us and why we're freaking out was because the shark was so big, I mean it was literally 14 feet, like a 1,200 pound animal, and it's jumping 20 feet in the air right by the boat," Danowski said.

One of the fishermen, Kellen Keglor, told WFLA the shark encounter lasted about 30 minutes.

"We knew we had a once in a lifetime fish," Keglor said.
